Description:
offered for sale is
an attractive example of the 3rd generation Nissan Z car, in bright red with
a sporty black interior. With lots of power, legendary reliability, and
loaded with options, these cars offer a very rewarding driving experience
and world-class dependability. This one is no exception. The 1989 model was
the final year of production for these cars, meaning that Nissan had worked
any bugs out of them, and styled them in a more modern, aerodynamic way.
It's in very good
condition overall, though there are some cosmetic detractions in the paint.
The car shines well, but the clear coat is fading in places (especially on
the roof) and there are some scratches and dings in various spots on the
body panels. Corrosion is extremely limited, with just a small spot behind
the bottom right front fender and a spot on the hood (less than a dime in
width). There is no obvious rust anywhere else, and none underneath the car
on the pans or suspension - it does not appear to have weathered any harsh
winters. Despite the fading and other flaws, this Z shows well and looks
very respectable. The front emblem is missing, but we are acquiring a
replacement that should be installed by the time of delivery. There is a
chip missing in the left side mirror, and the glass is missing from the
right, but these will also be addressed and repaired before delivery of the
car.
Inside is notably
clean, with no sun fading or cracks on the dashboard and no rips or tears in
the upholstery. The door panels are clean and preserved, and the front
carpet has no soiling or tears. A factory stereo is in the dash, leading me
to believe this car was adult-owned. Options abound, including air
conditioning, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, tilt wheel, cruise
control, intermittent and rear wipers, adjustable bucket seats with some
power controls on the drivers side, a four-speed automatic with overdrive,
power steering, brakes, and antenna. Lockable T-tops make the roof almost
disappear, and they're easily storable in the ample cargo area accessible
from the rear hatch. There is some fading and wear spots on the carpet in
the cargo area, but it looks fine overall and is not a big detraction. The
steering wheel had some deterioration of the leather, and is covered by a
subtle aftermarket grip. This car feels very clean inside, and everything
appears to work as it should, though the temp gauge comes on a bit
intermittently.
Mechanically, this
car is in very good shape, firing right to life and idling smoothly. It
maintains proper oil pressure and engine temperature in any operating speeds
or conditions, and the charging system works as it should. The brakes are
strong and true, and the suspension feels tight and smooth with no harshness
or play in the controls. The radial tires are nearing the end of their life,
and will need replacement in the near future. All of the fluids were clean
and level, and the battery strong, making it clear that this car was well
maintained. If kept on regular schedule of good maintenance, this Nissan
could deliver an additional 250,000+ plus miles of reliable driving - it's
not unusual to see these cars reach 300,000 miles or more.
If you are looking
for a solid and affordable sports car that can be used as a daily driver,
this is an excellent candidate - it looks good, drives very well, maintains
a certain degree of practicality, and has a well-earned reputation for
reliability throughout the automotive world. It is a very attractive and
sporty Z car.
